Financial freedom for everyone – that is one goal of Quantum2

In our current system early retirement and financial freedom is a dream of many people. Particularly groups like FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early). Right now we need to work for money to live. But what if you never have to work?

It may sound like a utopia. But is it? When we think about it, “nine-to-five” work is a modern concept. Did our ancestors work? Sure, they hunted animals and cleaned the cave, very hard for a while, but research shows that they were doing this for perhaps 3 days and then did little for a week or even two, if food was plentiful.

We don’t need to go backwards in time. We just want to show that “work” is not a given. Work is a concept we have created, but it should be a choice. With modern technology, surely we can do nothing at all?

Freedom is doing what you choose

In reality, we do not believe many people want to do nothing. Rather people want to choose how they spend their time. People need goals and to realise their ambitions. As Maslow’s hierarchy hints at, a life without self-actualisation is not very fulfilling. When you choose what you do and the amount you do it, it is no longer to work. Spending time with your friends and family, getting fit, time spent on community activities, doing a job in which you show your skills, enjoy what you are doing, achieve a goal - this is fulfilment and freedom.

The principle of Quantum2
